Three Looks for Valentine’s Day

valentines quirk hotelOKAY, so I was going to title this  “Three All-Black Looks for Valentine’s Day” but that sounded super morose and misleading.

I am in love and love Valentine’s Day, so when I say all black, I don’t mean to boycott the holiday or anything. You guys already know I love a good all black outfit.  They are versatile and sophisticated and can be seen from chic to street depending on what you are wearing! So, I didn’t have to look very hard to find three all black looks from my recent photos.  There are even a few common pieces in these outfits { gucci tights & tall boots } as they are pieces that I have been wearing over and over again this season! SO, whether you are opting for a low key date night (or girls night) and want to throw on a pair of leggings, or you have reservations at a fancy restaurant, here are a few looks to inspire you!

valentines day look

~ Spanx Leggings, Black Sweater, Tall Boots ~

This look has been on *clap* repeat *clap* this winter. I just put together a styling video on IG with 5 ways to style Spanx and this look is the first one! You guys love the Spanx Faux Leather Leggings combo with the over-sized sweater and boots and I gotta say I agree 🙂 The leggings are actually comfortable and keep ya in in all the right places, making them super flattering.  Throw on an over sized sweater (black or any color!) and voila, outfit made. Here are some great options to recreate this look >>

black mini dress

~ Black Midi Dresses with Gucci Tights and Tall Boots ~

Another outfit combo that has been on repeat this season! I wore this exact outfit on Christmas eve, to Christmas parties and the dress is still in heavy rotation on the daily.  There’s nothing quite like spicing up a sweatshirt mini dress with a pair of funky tights and tall boots.  { If you don’t want to splurge on the Gucci tights, you definitely have other options } I like to tow the line between simple / modest and rock & roll and I think this look and the next sum that up pretttttty well.  My picks for black midi dresses & tall boots are below >>

~ Skirt, Gucci Tights, Lace Blouse, Blazer ~

This look is probably my most elaborate and interesting one of the season. Talk about layers! The see thru lace blouse with black bralette (rare occurrence) and necklaces underneath, paired with the blazer on top creates dimension to the look, as does the leather against the tights. Textures & layers all around.  I don’t rock a mini skirt often, but when I do it’s going to make a statement.  ASOS has plenty of great faux leather mini skirts that would be fun to dress up or down for your Valentine’s day look.  Additionally, you really can’t go wrong with an oversized black blazer! They can make virtually anything look professional and interesting at the same time.

PS. What are your Valentine’s Day plans? John and I started the tradition of bringing home fried chicken from a local favorite, Lee’s and watching tv by the fire 🙂

That first look is definitely one I’d reach for. Sweater, comfy leggings, and boots? Yes please. I’m all about a good monochromatic black ensemble.

Your Valentines plans sound perfect, and I think all black is a very chic choice – that is what I’d wear if I had some fancy v-day plans, but I’ll be staying in with my girlfriends.
