OKAY, I know, we are well into February but better late than never, right? I didn’t necessarily start the year off with these goals, though, which is why this post is so late. I have never been one for New Years Resolutions, but this year I did set some goals for myself that cover all aspects of my life and I’m writing this to help myself keep track of my progress and encourage you guys to do the same! So, here are a few things I aim to do this year.
- GET IN THE GYM // So far, so good with this one! I joined a gym and so far have gone at least 3x a week since I started. I am not doing anything too crazy, simply walking a few miles each time I’m there and doing some ab work. Gotta start somewhere right? I can definitely say that this has already helped me to feel better, less sedentary and gives me time each day to spend with myself!
- BE INTENTIONAL WITH PURCHASES // This is a big one. Over the years as a Fashion Blogger, I have felt pressured to always be buying and sharing new clothes with you guys! Recently, however, I realized this is not necessary. Not only is it not necessary, but it can be straight up wasteful. My quality over quantity mindset has kicked into full gear and I am only investing in pieces that are well made, will be worn often and fill a specific purpose in my wardrobe! EX. this Gucci sweatshirt that I scored for 1/3 of the retail price on Mercari. I have worn it a few times a week since it arrived and I know it will last me for years to come. I have found so many great luxe second-hand finds on this brilliant app lately, you should definitely check it out if you have expensive taste like me, but don’t want to pay full price.
- UPDATE HOUSE // We have been living in our house for almost four years, and I am ready to make some changes! Lots of our furniture was inherited from my parents and lots of our art was pieces we have been carrying around with us since college and had probably seen better days. I finally updated my office space and finished it up this week with a new rug. (Well, the second new rug, as the first one was white and a major mistake with two cats). Next up: curate our gallery wall with new and old art, wedding photos and other assorted pieces.
- READ MORE // John and I tried to set a goal to read each night in bed for an hour before we go to sleep and we have been TERRIBLE about this. Lately we have fallen asleep every night watching Cheers and giggling together! I absolutely love doing that too, so maybe we need to adjust this goal for us and try for at least 2 nights a week? I also love to keep a book with me or downloaded on my iPad at all times so if I find myself with time on my hands (or solo at a bar enjoying a glass of wine at happy hour) I always have something to read and do not just spend mindless time scrolling on my phone!
I know, none of these are particularly unique or groundbreaking, but again, this post is as much for me as it is for you guys! To remind me that even if it is just a few things to hold me accountable, that’s better than none! Are you a an extensive bullet-points-and-goals-list-maker or a work it out as you go kinda person?
