Let’s just start off by saying, these tips are not meant to make you feel like you need to be doing something every second of every day during quarantine. Some days are DEFINITELY better than others. Some days I wake up and have trouble getting out of bed, and others I am ready to work, organize, and create. One of the good things to come out of this disaster is all of the extra time to do things we didn’t “have time” to do before. If you are like John and I, you neglected much of your housework in lieu of social gatherings, travel etc and your to do list is a mile long. In the same sense, you might have hobbies that have taken a back seat to other work, social and personal obligations! Those need attention too.
SO, if you are having one of those days where you feel like being especially productive, or need to channel your nervous energy into productive energy here are a few ideas. Nothing too profound, just a reminder if you are feeling stuck, bored and anxious!
- PICK A PROJECT AND STICK TO IT: It is so easy with so much extra time on your hands to start projects and not finish them {at least for me.} Organize one drawer here, clean one section of closet here, do a little yard work…. If you want to channel your energy into organizing, cleaning or rearranging things around the house, make sure you finish what you start! I need to listen to this one myself, as I have started a handful of projects without finishing them already. These include: starting to strip the paint on my mantle and organizing half of the cabinets in the kitchen. Make a list of all of the tasks, projects and other to-dos and work your way through the list item by item.
- SELF-TIMER PHOTOS: I have clearly been channeling my creative energy into learning how to use self-timer & remote shooting on my camera to capture the moments here in this post. I know that not all of you are bloggers so this may seem silly to you, but if you are quarantined with a partner, friends or family, a fun photo shoot together is a fun way to pass the time. John and I have done this a few times and though it seems a little funny waiting for the timer to count down before the photo snaps, the images are a great way to remember the time we are spending together at home. Don’t have a fancy camera? No problem, iPhones have self-timer too 🙂
- CREATE SOMETHING: So, where I have been creating content with my self-timer photos, many of you have other hobbies and talents that can thrive during this time at home! If you have children, arts and crafts are always fun. If you love to cook or bake, get after it! A few of my other blogger friends have suggested having a bake or cook-off with your quarantine crew, which sounds like a ton of fun! Sewing, knitting, gardening, tie-dying … the list goes on and on. Take this time to channel your nervous / anxious energy into something you normally don’t have time to do and ENJOY IT!
- MOVE: I say move, not exercise because everyone has there own preferences for how to “work out” Whether you prefer to go out for a long run or wake up and practice yoga, this is an obvious yet necessary way to channel your energy! For me, I tried a handful of workout videos (mostly dance) at the beginning of quarantine to help keep myself moving. However, I quickly decided that this was not the way for me! Instead, I turn on one of my favorite shows and do various cardio exercises, stretch, yoga, and dancing for the duration of a show or two. It makes me feel like I am in control and frankly is much more fun. John and I have also been getting out on our bikes and it has been SO much fun.

How have you guys been channeling your energy?
AND AGAIN. If you haven’t been productive during this quarantine, that is OKAY TOO! We are all coping with this time in different ways. Hope you are all staying happy and healthy <3 xx
These photos are so awesome girl!! I definitely need to try to take some self timer pics!
Such a great post! I love the reminder to be creative and the focus on moving (not ‘working out’)

Getting up and moving is super helpful for me and my mindset. The sun is finally out and all I want to do is be going on walks.
This quarantine life has been so challenging for so many. I’ve been working from home for years now so the changes haven’t been as drastic, but these are all such great tips! xoxo, Sarah
I love these tips and I love how your self timer photos came out! I’ll be trying out some new locations in my apartment this week haha!

I’ve been trying to get creative whenever I possibly can. I find that channeling my energy into creativity is so helpful. I mostly make silly TikTok videos with my husband or take pictures for my bookstagram or my blog! It’s great to have somewhere to put that fierce energy that fizzles out if I don’t use it!
I find that I have been creating a ton. It helps me find some sense of normalcy.

These are great tips! I also love these pics, how gorgeous! Xx.
So many amazing photos!
I’ve been doing so many home projects during this time! I just keep painting rooms. I joke to my husband that we’re in trouble if I run out of rooms and we’re still quarantined!
These are great tips and love how you take the pressure off. Our society expects everyone to be so productive, and sometimes it’s ok to just be still and relax. In fact we all may need some of that!
Great tips! I need to work on completing projects. With so much time I keep starting new things haha! Totally feeling inspired now!
All great ideas. I have been seeing a lot of at-home shoots and yours look great! I need to give this a go.
Being productive during quarantine can definitely be hard. Along with taking care of my newborn I try to accomplish one big task per day to keep myself busy!
