The Best Of Summer 2020

Getaway House Rebecca Piersol

I am not exactly sure when “Summer 2020” started, but despite the pandemic and everything else going on in the world, we were able to have a pretty darn good summer. We were lucky enough to get to The Homestead, Emerald Isle and Getaway house and I got away to the beach last weekend with Catherine to finally close out summer.  Well, that isn’t totally true. My mom and I are going to the beach this weekend s- o it’s clear I am truly holding onto vibes.

I don’t usually do monthly roundups, but I was going through my camera roll and realizing how many photos I loved from this summer, so I decided to do a summer 2020 post mostly for myself as a photo journal but I hope you enjoy it too! Lots of masks, lots of good wine, lots of sun and enjoying the outdoors. Moving forward, I know that we won’t take these local trips and moments by the beach or the pool for granted.  now that we are adjusting to this “new normal” I know that we will always remember these moments where we were actually able to vacation (in any shape or form) this summer.

We were so thrilled when one of our favorite Virginia Wineries, Blenheim, reopened! We ordered their wine for  pick-up a few times during quarantine, but it really was the best being able to go sit outside, drink our favorite wine and take in the vineyard views! We are hoping to visit again in a few weeks, as fall can be so beautiful in Charlottesville wine country.

John and I got to get away to The Homestead to celebrate our five year anniversary, which was such a dream.  The hotel was operating at half capacity and it was so nice that we had plenty of space and felt safe the entire time! Sure we had to make reservations for the pool and we wore masks inside, but it was just as magical as usual.

I loved using Rent The Runway this summer on our travels (even if the travels were just an hour away!) The above and below photos & dresses were some of my favorites and I have linked all of the looks on here that are from RTR below! If you have special events or occasions, or just want to change things up, use REBECCAPERK40 for a discount on your first two months. (More dreamy photos from an RTR piece here).

In case you missed my post on our recent trip to Getaway House here, see the Photo Journal. Probably one of my favorites this summer!

I finally finished our downstairs bathroom renovation and the full post us up on The Crystal Press. I would love to know what you think! Leave a comment 🙂

Finished out summer last weekend at the beach with Catherine and Phoenix and this photo pretty much sums up the trip.  Our vacations look a little different now, but definitely in the best way.

It honestly sounds like you had a phenomenal summer to me. I’m glad you got a chance to still travel and enjoy celebrating some bigger occasions. I’m pretty envious, I’ll admit. While I am a homebody through and through (and thoroughly detest summer), I still miss the concept of getting away during the season! Maybe eventually I’ll get to travel again haha!
