My Loft Office Transformation with The Container Store

I have had big dreams for our loft space since we bought our house almost exactly 5 years ago! Since we moved in, the space has seen a bunch of different rearrangements – the last one finalized right before quarantine last year (see that post here as a “before” reference).  That arrangement served us fine when I had to work at home during lock down, but I never found myself choosing to work up there after work, which is when I work on the blog, Let’s Talk Towels, etc. SO, when The Container Store approached us about working on a project for The Crystal Press, I was so excited. We just got a Container Store at Short Pump Town Center, which is amazing, and working with some of PR friends and The Container Store to coincide with the launch has been such a fun process.

It took me, Johnny, the Container Store designers & Catherine a little while to figure out how we could work with my space (more on that over on The Crystal Press), but once we came up with a game plan, I was thrilled. Luckily, we have plenty of closet space to hang up our clothes, because the loft doesn’t really lend itself to becoming a traditional closet. Instead, I decided I wanted it to be more office focused, with shelves for both display and practical storage. I love what our designer came up with, Elfa Decor shelving with three big drawers in the middle.

Accessorizing for our specific space needs was probably the most fun part! The Container Store has SO many options when it comes to storage, display, make-up and jewelry organization that it was hard to narrow down my choices, but I think Johnny and I did a pretty good job putting the finishing touches on the space. We both have bins for our socks, accessories and swimwear and we both use the space now for our free-lance work. The whole vibe has changed – especially when the light comes through our skylights into the space – and we are spending much more time up here.

I knew from the start that I desperately needed to organize my hair, skin & beauty products and ended up choosing two pieces from the Luxe Acrylic Modular Make-Up System to store my most used items. I love the way you can see everything, but it still looks clean and organized.

I am obsessed with my new Stackers jewelry box — and they are on sale right now! I have 3 different layers: one for earrings and rings, one for necklaces and the top one has a combination of sections.  It has made my life so much easier, as I used to store my jewelry in random places and could never find anything. Highlyyyyyy recommend if you need to get your accessories organized.

Thanks to the Container Store for working with me on this project.  The full Elfa set-up & accessories were gifted to me, but all opinions here are my own. Everyone who helped me design this space was knowledgeable and incredibly talented at helping me find exactly what worked for me. Their custom closet and office designs are hard to beat.
